Mark Leedhammd@leedhammd1.demon.co.uk UK I got into Can in the early to mid 70's. A mate Gary - his older brother was a bassist, into Can and did the holger-white-gloves-thing with his bass playing. I never saw them live (I saw the brother's band rehearse, though) - a great shame. I still listen to the LP's - regularly. I can't pick a fave - it'll be which ever one I'm listening to (up to Flow Motion). Oh....and I just noticed that older brother's email address in the guest book...gonna drop him a line. jobenjafield jobenjafield@yahoo.co.uk london i listen to 'future days' to keep my spirit up in this frightening world..and 'fall of another year' has kept me going for years.. And I don't vant to pay % John shhslibrary@lycos.com Sydney, Australia I first got into Can through reading Melody Maker. They sounded so interesting that I thought I'd better have a listen. At the time (early 1970s) imported records were being kept out of Australia by the big recording companies, none of which would even think about pressing locally something as far out as Can. You had to know a shop that would get the imports in for you, "under the counter", so to speak. I listened to Monster Movie and Tago Mago - both of which amazed me - but bought Ege Bamyasi. It remains one of my favourite albums to this day. None of my friends can understand it. My wife thinks I'm nuts. But Can's approach to music sounds as fresh today as it did over 30 years ago. Can has been a huge influence on me as a musician. I even bought a Mustang Bass because it reminded me of Holger's. I used it for 5 years and played hundreds of gigs with it. Then I got a Jazz Bass. Now I see from your photos that Holger switched to a Jazz himself in the mid-Seventies. Great site, and great to hear the band is still going. So sad to hear about Michael. Heinz-Conrad Walter terkil@lonestar-berlin.de Berlin/Germany I'm still fan of this "Super-Group" Can, and in my opinion they actually are the Inventors of Techno Music. I've seen them here in Berlin in Columbia Hall as the Can Solo Project a few Years ago. Amazing Musicians, absolutly Avantgarde, take Place until today ! Ernesto Manzanares ernesto_manzanares@hotmail.com Mexico I'm fan of the CAN music, mi favorite song is Mother sky. Geoff "Mad Dog" Horgan GHorgan@t-online.de Germany Hi, I remember Can from the late 1960's, as my band Why Not was one of the first Psychedelic Rock Bands to record a single in 1967, titled "I've Gone". We are still going as a band today after 35 years of making records, so we understand what Can are all about, and it's nice to actually find some information about them on this website. There were quite a few other bands around in 1966-68 that started up especially in the USA, e.g., Nutmeg, The Circus, The Woods, and so on. In the UK we were doing the same thing as Can early on, although we were considered very much underground. Today we are still making records, strangely recording here in Germany, and would like to add that Can made a real contribution to Rock Music in many different ways. I hope they continue to make some new releases at some point.
