Dear lovely "CAN"!
Let me call you so and the reason is that first I heard you in far,far 1971-s,when your disk "Tago Mago" appeared.I was shocked. I opened something new for me,something unknown at that it was unlike the other music, music which being unlike the other, impressed me,by it sinkere kindness. And when I saw your photo, can't forget it till nowadays.Every time, having got your next disk with great difficully,as the prices were and remain today too high(but usually it takes a lot of time before we can listen to your next disk) I immersed in your music world and imagined as if,I were together with you. Unforgettable time!

You had everything on your way:success and disappointment, but the time proved that your are "the qiants of music"! I am glad with to every you success still many ,many years.I always wanted to know about your as much.I'm interested in both:your life and work. Will you, please help me ,if it's possible to know more about you not only as a musitian but as a person. We can understand music though the musitians thoughts and soul even if we don't understand the words in English.I would like to speak with you about everything. But it's a pity it's not possible to write everything in a letter. A letter is the only means communication with you...

The only hope to meet you and to speak with you it's your concert. But in fortunately it's very difficult.Heardly I when nor be able arrive in England single hope if you will arrive in Russia,we without fall a meet.Dreams...

It is difficult for you to understand as it was earlier in the USSR (Soviet Union), with what difficulties to us the next albums of you reached. I remember those times when each new album got with the big work. Now them it is possible the find - truth bad piracy copies from China. In expensive dear shops it is possible to order and buy original disks, but they cost stand even more expensively the present true price... Now much has changed, I could see you "alive" in video, but remained as before impossibility to receive the autograph of you. I always dreamed, if not you then though musician you which works I really love and with pleasure I listen when some day will come and in my small world of the admirer you as a photo with his its autograph. But apparently it only dreams - miracles simply do not happen, and if are that only for " the elected public. But all the same, my love to music you remain with me for ever. And let dreams will not come true, but I trusted, and the belief and hope die the last...

.My letter means you have reached, but I hoped to receive from your autograph-for me it is a limit dreams. With music of you I have lived the most part of the life and I wanted to have a part of this life having touched again by those unforgettable years of our youth by which part and were you.Forgive me,if I am too persevering. The you for me always was and will be that light with what the man lives. The thank for that you is.Let always success and our love will be with you.

Dear lovely "CAN"!I'm very sorry, but I have a request for you. Will you please send me your photo with your original autographs or just an answer on my letter. For me it would like... a present equal "the flight to the moon"! Oh,GOD!But it's just a dream,I even can't hope for it.There are no miracles in reality!?

Having finishing my letter let me wish you everything a person can wish to his friends:a successful work and a lot of happiness in your life, and also to continue gladden your admirers with your songs.Thank the time thas has presented us such a wonderful musicians and mans.I want you to be happy and always young! We love and always will be with you.

Ever' your Helen.

P.S.Excuse me,please my English.

I just purchased the remastered Ege Bamayasi and Tago Mago and they are fantastic.
I bought the old Spoon cd's years ago and these are far and away better.
The remastering breathes new life into the old classics.
I plan on aquiring Monster Movie and Soundtracks soon.
When can we expect the next four discs to show up? Will Out of Reach, The Peel Sessions, or some of the non album singles along with out takes are rarities ever appear part of this reissue campaign?
Thank you for those remasterised versions !!
All was yet created in CAN's EP. Dub, Kautrock, tribal transe...Please give us videos from the moment where "Monster movie" and "TagoMago" where written ! No matter the price...

there really is nothing better than the music of can. just listening to ege bamyasi and thinking of how deprived i would be without their music. God bless can.
Just watched the Can DVD. Is Jaki the coolest dude in the world or is he just pretending? Love the way he seems to be daydreaming whilst drumming those complex parts. Props must also go to Irmin for the fantastic karate-chopping on the Old Grey Whistle Test performance.

Hi friend,
your site is very very good!!!
Best regards from Italy.
i agree that future days should be reissued on vinyl again. it doesn't make any sense that this particular record was left out; there's certainly a demand for it.

I am a huge Can fan and Dj who only uses vinyl. I have been looking for a vinyl edition of Future Days for about 7 years now. I hoped it would be reissued by you after Ege Bamyasi. Any leads? Any offers?

In the process of guiding my teenage daughter and friends through the music history (my) I recently rediscovered Can. The last couple of weeks I have neglected my work,as a schoolprincipal, and my social activitys in favor of my old dusty stratocaster and the recordplayer.
Is there by any chance someone out there who knows exectly what equipment Michael Karoli used, especially on the early albums??
After watching the dvd which is very good, but the awards ceremony is really sad dut to Mikis absence. So great to see all the old tv shows. Noel Edmonds on totp's yuk.

I've only been a fan like 5 years & it blows my mind the stuff Can did 30+ yrs ago!!!

I know theres a dvd but 4 songs in 5.1 surround aint enough! you should release some of the Can classics in SACD 5.1 surround sound! I can't think of another band that would be better suited for it.
saw them live in liverpool in the 70,s and then i was hooked for friends couldnt understand it but all came around in the end.iam a giging pro musician and still listen to all the classic song while travelling to gigs.
To Whom It May Concern:
I recently purchased a Can CD titled Tago Mago. I must tell you it is very enjoyable. I was staring at the cover and am wondering, what exactly does Tago Mago mean and what language is it in? If you could supply me with the information, I would be very grateful.
I can be reached at
De Canaxis à Rite time en passant par Flow motion et Listen to the fish de Faust avec Malcom Mooney, il n'y a que du bonheur!!!
Alors can à jamais.
I am lucky enough to own one of the 2000 copies of 'prehistoric future' on mono cassette tape. Anyone know its value now? I would be interested to hear from other Can fans.

hi everyone at CAN. Jacki Liebezeit is still one of my favorite DRUMMER. GREAT INSPIRATION FOR MY PLAYING. THX. THE INDUSTRIAL FETISH CYBORGS.PS. it nice that the original CAN Studio will be a part at the Pop Rock Museum in Gronau.

Greatest band ever. Nice site, but could use some updating! What's Jaki up to these days? He stated in the DVD that he's no longer with Club off Chaos, so what's next? Some more info on Malcolm, Reebop and Rosko would be nice, too.
I got into Can in the early to mid 70's. A mate Gary - his older brother was a bassist, into Can and did the holger-white-gloves-thing with his bass playing. I never saw them live (I saw the brother's band rehearse, though) - a great shame. I still listen to the LP's - regularly. I can't pick a fave - it'll be which ever one I'm listening to (up to Flow Motion). Oh....and I just noticed that older brother's email address in the guest book...gonna drop him a line.
i listen to 'future days' to keep my spirit up in this frightening world..and 'fall of another year' has kept me going for years..
I couldn't find'The East is Red'on the website? where is it Holger ? My little cassette is going a bit bendy is it on CD?

CAN it's one of the few bands that deserve respect in music matters, the entire tago mago full of harmony and the energy of damo makes the perfect combination to reach something that is was few years ago when i saw damo suzuki in Vancouver b.c. with members of can, seen damo on stage with all his energy, wisdome and experience its' very good experince that i really appreciate.

I first got into Can through reading Melody Maker. They sounded so interesting that I thought I'd better have a listen. At the time (early 1970s) imported records were being kept out of Australia by the big recording companies, none of which would even think about pressing locally something as far out as Can. You had to know a shop that would get the imports in for you, "under the counter", so to speak. I listened to Monster Movie and Tago Mago - both of which amazed me - but bought Ege Bamyasi. It remains one of my favourite albums to this day.
None of my friends can understand it. My wife thinks I'm nuts. But Can's approach to music sounds as fresh today as it did over 30 years ago. Can has been a huge influence on me as a musician. I even bought a Mustang Bass because it reminded me of Holger's. I used it for 5 years and played hundreds of gigs with it. Then I got a Jazz Bass. Now I see from your photos that Holger switched to a Jazz himself in the mid-Seventies.
Great site, and great to hear the band is still going. So sad to hear about Michael.

I'm still fan of this "Super-Group" Can, and in my opinion they actually are the Inventors of Techno Music. I've seen them here in Berlin in Columbia Hall as the Can Solo Project a few Years ago. Amazing Musicians, absolutly Avantgarde, take Place until today !

I remember Can from the late 1960's, as my band Why Not was one of the first Psychedelic Rock Bands to record a single in 1967, titled "I've Gone". We are still going as a band today after 35 years of making records, so we understand what Can are all about, and it's nice to actually find some information about them on this website.
There were quite a few other bands around in 1966-68 that started up especially in the USA, e.g., Nutmeg, The Circus, The Woods, and so on. In the UK we were doing the same thing as Can early on, although we were considered very much underground. Today we are still making records, strangely recording here in Germany, and would like to add that Can made a real contribution to Rock Music in many different ways. I hope they continue to make some new releases at some point.
Very Best Regards

My interest is researching "hadert's' for family history. Could Saul Smaizys, or anybody, else tell me more about the 'Hadert' mentioned? Thanks, Terry Hadert, Sth Australia

I got the blues thinking of the future, so I left off and made some marmalade.

I always heard good things about Can and so many recommendations but never actualy heard Can. Two days ago, I got the DVD to see what the fuss was about.

I sat and watched the concert and was instantly converted. I was just listening to the 5.1 remixes when the doorbell went. It was a couple of friends. I let them in and played the concert again. They had never heard of Can. I played them the concert and they were converted!

Now I intend to collect all the Can albums. I recommend the DVD. The concert and the documentaries are excellent. The special features are good and the audio CD is also brilliant.
nice job

here we've got bands like "olfa meocorde", "the macarena's summer", "les enfants"...
ok, dunno what else to say about it, you can visit for further info...
and, nothing, i just wanted to let you know that there's some really godd shit down here...

I love music in all its different forms, but for me 60's and 70's Krautrock was the greatest thing ever to happen to music. Thanks to Can and all the other bands who experimented and took a walk on the wild side.

Tengo toda su discografia y solo puedo decir que son unos musicos maravillosos.CAN es irrepetible, unicos y ............
in the beginning was the word, and the word was with can, and the word was can ... birth, crucifixion, resurrection, can spirit breathes again ... in damo suzuki, spreading the word around the globe with carriers of sound, wandering like a monk on a pilgrimage to nowhere, all the time spreading the word, and the word is can ...
Not a bad web site but took a long time to find out the price of can's dvd x2 + cd. couldn't find a review!? So won't buy!
Disappointed with can's spoon cd's compared to vinyl, are they ever going to be remixed to bring out the hidden depth and colour?
Glad to hear they are still recording individually but very difficult to find out information and reviews in uk through magazines
Best wishes Pete

We search for the anti-sky
Thousands (and you and me)
In roof disharmony
In movie suspense
In cinema till exhaustion
We both know
That the sky s full of paper planes
To catch and read
But now open and shut the window
If it does relief to you
Buy and sell
Come and go
Run and stop
In violence fascinating
When you forget your thick hands inside my senses inside your nerves
And Sound pharmacy with your hands held to divergency
And Humanism, folklore and landscape
The birds react
I fell inlove with someone s echo
In the million grams that buildings wheigh
Far away such a simple anamorphose
The actress stuntmen that we d photographed inside the sweat box
Opticals and panorama
Going straight to super-words
The birds react
And arrive to landscape number 32
to the next landscape where clowns kidnapped all the children
to the after lanscape where magicians made children appear again thank you
your hands are mine
and are inlove with bodies wich radiography I don t know
In million grams that stand high bridges
Now rent your conscience to the evil ones
Divide them in T1, T2 e T3 like flats
Security and care finally answered me
I m alone
Going straight to hiper-words
The models eat theirselves in chic
And the birds react
Explain Freud to the good and the bad guys from the movies
All the male heiresses are named Urban
in the hipnotic laundry alley way
meanwhile the wound is cured
fireworks in rewind
factories chimney
are missiles and rockets that take off one by one to space
in the street where silk night shirt sleepy face robots
start to understand that they re just part of a museum
in the super-landscape

Thank you CAN

Hallo Can Fans,
kurze Frage an euch.
The Doc
Hab'lang nicht mehr so'ne Gänsehaut gehabt wie beim Betrachten eurer DVD.Das war really CAN-like. Genauso muss es sein.
